Do you like coffee? For those who can't imagine their morning without their favorite drink, there is more good news: coffee is really healthy! Experts from a Spanish university confidently state: coffee beans have unique antioxidant properties that do not disappear even during their processing.

Scientists representing the University of Granada reported on the pages of the periodical Food Science and Technology that coffee is rich in substances that are very beneficial to human health. According to scientists, these substances are almost 500 times more active in their effect than the well-known ascorbic acid and green tea extract.

Super-powerful antioxidants are present in the husk of the coffee bean and directly in the coffee grounds. Researchers have found that useful components are also present in the by-products, which are most often used to produce cheap coffee varieties. But most consumers disdain such products, choosing more expensive varieties of the drink.

Antioxidants, or antioxidants, are unique substances that inhibit oxidative processes in the body. In other words, antioxidants rid the body of damaging particles – so-called free radicals, the action of which can cause, in particular, the development of cancerous tumors. The structure of free radicals is unstable, and their effect on human health is detrimental.

“Coffee by-products contain a huge number of other useful components, some of which help to stabilize the balance of intestinal microflora, while others inhibit the development of pathogenic microorganisms,” the researchers claim.

If we talk about high-quality coffee beans – in particular, experts analyzed the composition of Arabica beans – then experiments on rats revealed in them, in addition to powerful antioxidants, a considerable amount of melanoidins. Melanoidins are products of saccharoamine processes – reactions of combining proteins with carbohydrates. Scientists say: these compounds should be actively used to rid the body of pathogens.

Another benefit of coffee should be mentioned separately – and here it is not the composition of the product that comes to the fore, but its aroma. For many people, inhaling the aroma of coffee activates the production of the pleasure hormone in the brain. It is not without reason that when inhaling such a smell, an association with warmth and comfort often arises. For true coffee lovers, it is enough to spend a few minutes near the coffee being prepared, inhale the aroma – and life gets better!

Meanwhile, scientists conducted a series of experiments, during which it was discovered that coffee aroma changes the work of seventeen genes and the production of proteins in the brain. In particular, the smell of coffee beans activates the synthesis of substances in the body that act as antioxidants.

Therefore, if you are not a big fan of drinking coffee, you can simply inhale its smell. This will be enough to rejuvenate the body and prevent the development of oncology.
