Training with a gradual increase in load and behavioral therapy (changing the look at your condition) is the best way to get rid of the chronic fatigue syndrome, the study showed. Analysis of the state of 640 people suggests that this is not only an effective, but also a relatively inexpensive method.

Until now, scientists do not know what provokes this syndrome. Meanwhile, thousands suffer from it. Some of the most popular theories are viral and infectious (the culprits are the Epstein-Barr virus, cytomegalovirus, type 6 herpes virus, Coxsackie virus, hepatitis C, enterovirus, retrovirus).

Also, the development of the syndrome is facilitated by unbalanced emotional and intellectual loads in the absence of physical activity (hard work, increased responsibility). Therefore, the syndrome mostly affects the inhabitants of megacities.

Symptoms include severe fatigue, decreased concentration, memory impairment, pain in the joints, muscles and sleep disorders. Because of the syndrome, many people are forced to leave work and hire a nurse.

An integrated approach to treatment makes it possible to save significantly both a single person and the health care system. Commented Professor Paul McCron: "The state clearly needs to invest in the proposed approach."
