Modern medicine provides the birth of a child, the most joyful event in the life of almost every woman, with maximum safety. But the emergence of new technologies does not always lead to improvements, such as, for example, cesarean section. Initially, a cesarean was conducted to save the child, the mother's life was secondary. Now such an operation is as safe as possible for a woman's life and for a child, in some countries the cesarean section is increasingly done without medical indications and the doctors themselves induce women to perform an operation even if the mother's condition allows her to give birth independently at home.

In recent years, there has been an increase in the cesarean section, in Turkey more than 40% of births are performed with the help of surgical intervention, which exceeds the European countries by 25%.

WHO has already noted that 15% should be considered the optimal indicator of the frequency of delivery operations, when the cesarean section is the only way out to save the life of a woman or a child.

A dramatic increase in such surgeries can be associated with many causes, including too much weight gaining a woman during pregnancy, the lack of provision of services for the care of a woman after childbirth, improper disposition of the baby in the womb, the spread of artificial generic labor, the unwillingness of the woman to give birth alone (fear of pain, fights, possible ruptures, etc.), the benefits of medical personnel - gynecologists, obstetricians, anesthesiologists (carrying out procedures on schedule, receiving adbavki for the operation, etc.).

Despite the fact that in the case of surgical delivery, the mortality of women and the incidence is several times higher in comparison with natural childbirth, the caesarean section has several advantages:

  • a low risk of developing postpartum urinary incontinence syndrome (in 5% of cases)
  • saving the child's life (for example, if the mother is in the womb wrongly, which can lead to severe hypoxia during natural childbirth)
  • Cesarean section allows you to independently determine the date of birth of a child
  • operative delivery saves the woman from a long process of contractions.

At this stage, WHO in the European countries intends to ensure for every woman the possibility of safe delivery, with each woman being given the right to choose her own, to give birth naturally or through surgery.

Gunta Lazdan, the head of the WHO program on reproductive and sexual health, recommends a number of measures to ensure the safety of childbirth:

  • medical personnel need to ensure favorable conditions for the mother and child (support of labor at home with the provision of midwives)
  • Operational delivery only for medical reasons
  • promote and support breastfeeding
  • improve the quality of services

Lazdan also added that without the necessary analytical materials and necessary data, it is impossible to understand the essence of the problems and make the process of the appearance of a small person into the world as safe and joyful as possible in the life of every woman.
