World experts in biology and medicine assure that regular daily use of smartphones in a few centuries or millennia will affect the shape of the human hand: over time, the hand will naturally “adapt” to better and more comfortable use of the mobile device.
As evolutionary biology experts specify, transformational changes will occur gradually, over more than one generation - so they can only be noticed by conducting a comparative description. According to scientists, the thumb on the upper limb will become sharper, the palm will acquire a more flattened and beveled appearance - for convenient placement of the mobile device in it. At the same time, the other fingers can also change and acquire a “hook-shaped” appearance. Thus, the hand will become more functional.
The assumptions of evolutionary biologists are confirmed by experts representing other fields of biology and medicine. An excellent example of such changes can be the transformation of people from a family of progressive primates to their current appearance. Scientists are sure that it was the fact that hominids had to make efforts to hold and use all sorts of tools and hunting tools that led to the shape of the human hand taking the form that we can see now. Considering this, as well as the circumstances and needs of modern people, experts believe that this type of modification is quite plausible and probable.
In addition to the hands and fingers of the upper limbs, scientists predict a number of other changes in the human body. For example, the widespread use of smartphones, laptops, tablets and all sorts of other gadgets often leads to deterioration of vision, pain in the wrist, convulsive contractions of the neck muscles, etc. Many people experience such symptoms as a feeling of discomfort when using modern technology. As a result of such constant discomfort, the human body can trigger adaptation mechanisms, which sooner or later will lead to the next evolutionary round, which will affect the entire human body.
Scientists do not rule out that due to intensive technological development, adaptation processes will also affect the human brain – it will become more productive. However, experts also predict a deterioration in human memory and cognitive abilities.
Indeed, despite the opinion of many, humans have not stopped evolving. We cannot see any significant changes, because a comparative assessment would require much more time than we have been given to live. At the same time, scientists claim that many changes are almost impossible to predict. If civilization continues to advance in the current direction and at the current pace, then obvious modifications will occur over the next two hundred thousand years.
