Treatment for dyspnea is carried out depending on the cause of the syndrome.

With bronchial obstruction appoint:

  • bronchodilators (beta2-adrenoreceptor agonists, cholinolytics, theophylline and its derivatives):
  • anti-inflammatory drugs (with asthma and, possibly, with obstructive bronchitis);
  • expectorants:
  • oxygen therapy (with hypoxemia).

Oxygen is shown not only in bronchial obstruction, but also in other diseases accompanied by hypoxemia. There is evidence that prolonged oxygen therapy can reduce the mortality of patients with COPD.

With emphysema, surgical reduction of pulmonary volume is possible (removal of the least functional part of the parenchyma).

Treatment of dyspnea with heart failure suggests the appointment:

  • cardiac glycosides;
  • diuretics;
  • oxygen therapy.

In patients with cancer or in the terminal stages of pulmonary disease, dyspnea can be reduced by opioids and anxiolytics.

With restrictive diseases, you can get rid of dyspnea by a method of constant positive pressure (using a sealed mask and an airflow generator).

Treatment of chronic hypercapnia is performed by the method of non-invasive ventilation of the lungs. This method reduces hypercapnia and hypoxemia, relieves respiratory muscles, restores the sensitivity of the respiratory center.

The medical treatment of dyspnea of a psychogenic nature consists in the appointment of psychotropic drugs.

Exercises for wheezing

The best means of dyspnea is considered to be normal dosed walking, preferably in the evenings and at an average pace. This approach will not only strengthen the cardiovascular system, but also stabilize sleep. For those who do not have shortness of breath, you can recommend doing "Scandinavian walking" is a kind of sport that has become quite popular in recent years.

If walking, like physical exercise, does not suit you, then you can go swimming. Exercises in the water improve cardiac circulation and blood supply to muscles and tissues.

For more trained patients, doctors recommend squats. Usually start with 5-10 sit-ups, with repetition after 30 seconds. You can stick with your hands for any resistant stop. Squats can be performed outdoors, or in a well-ventilated room.

A bicycle is a great load for training and strengthening of the heart muscle and for stabilizing the breathing. If you conduct cycling every day, you can prevent the development of myocardial ischemia, atherosclerosis, and also reduce the risk of developing a heart attack. However, if you are inclined to dizziness, you should not ride a bicycle - in this case it is better to consult a doctor.

Respiratory gymnastics from dyspnea

Doctors advise at shortness of breath to engage in respiratory gymnastics, which will help strengthen the heart and improve the blood supply of tissues. The approximate complex consists of the following exercises.

  1. Stand straight, feet shoulder-width apart, knees bent. Take your right hand to shoulder level. With your left hand, cover your left nasal passage, with a little effort. Deeply and slowly inhale the free nostrils, and during this slowly bring the right hand to the right nostril: at the end of the inspiration, close the right nostril. The duration of the respiratory cycle should be measured by the number of heartbeats - you can act according to the increasing scheme, from 4 to 16 strokes.
  2. We sit down on a chair. We inhale air first through the right nostril slowly, then - through the left one quickly exhale. After this, repeat the exercise in the opposite sequence. Exercise is discontinued if it causes discomfort - for example, tachycardia or dizziness.
  3. We take a quick inhale of one nostril, then a quick exhalation - another nostril. We repeat the exercise.
  4. We take a quick breath and a quick exhalation of one nostril, then the same - another nostril.
  5. We take a slow breath and a slow exhalation of one nostril, then another. The respiratory cycle must coincide with 4-10 heart beats.
  6. We take a slow breath and exhale with two nasal passages, after which we hold our breath a little.
  7. We make a slowed-in breath with our lips, as if through a tube, and then - a similar exhalation.

Wise from shortness of breath

To get rid of the hated breathing problem, patients resort to a variety of means. In particular, some people apply the practice of mudra - this is a symbolic arrangement of brushes, or so-called "finger yoga". There are many similar finger combinations. There is also a mudra that helps with shortness of breath.

How is the mudra performed?

The index fingers are pressed against each other, and the remaining ones are crossed, placed on the outer sides of the hands. Thumbs also cross. Between the palms leave a small gap. If the patient is sitting, then his index fingers should be pointed downwards to the floor. If the patient lies, fingers are guided to the legs. Hands need to relax as much as possible.

When performing a mudra, the patient must imagine that he is sitting on a rock that protrudes in the middle of the water flow. When exhaling out of all skin pores, sweat appears and the stream descends into the water. Finally, the patient washed his face with clean water from the stream and put his hands on his hips, feeling the body warmed by the sun.

Mudra lasts for 7-15 breaths, no longer: otherwise the clean energy will start to emerge from the body. Be sure to concentrate on breathing.

The presented mudra is able to relieve difficult breathing, fever, to overcome infectious diseases. According to experts, this practice strengthens immunity and can also be used for preventive purposes.

These exercises are good remedies for shortness of breath. They do not lead to overstrain, they can be done at any time of the day: the main thing is to try to isolate yourself from unnecessary thinking and anxiety, to relax. You can include light music.
