Plum is known for all its tasty fleshy and juicy berries. This fruit tree is common in our gardens. It easily grows from the seed and quickly reaches the fruitful age. In season, the berry is very affordable. Many hostesses make from it preparations for the winter: pickle, prepare jams, jams and compotes. How useful is it and is it possible to use plums for diabetes?

What kind of fruit is possible with type 1 and type 2 diabetes?

Fruits in our life are not only a tasty delicacy, but also healthy food, an arsenal of many nutrients necessary for the normal functioning of our body. Their separate type cannot contain all significant nutrients, therefore we try to diversify our menu with their various types, especially in the summer period.

Fruits owe their excellent taste to the presence of sugars and carbohydrates. How to be in this case for diabetics, what kind of fruit is possible with type 1 and type 2 diabetes? Due to what feed your body without causing him harm?

In the diet menu for diabetes should be dominated by fruits with low sugar content. Fruits safe for this disease include:

  • apricots (17kkal and 4g carbohydrates);
  • Kiwi (56kkal and 13g, respectively);
  • oranges (62kkal and 15g);
  • grapefruits (39kkal and 9g);
  • pears (58kkk and 14g);
  • apples (40-50kkal and 14g, depending on the variety).

Plums with high sugar

In which row are the plums and can you eat them with type 1 and 2 diabetes? This berry is low-calorie (46kkal), carbohydrates in it make up 11g per 100g of weight and low glycemic index (only 22 units), which is very important in diabetes.

Does draining increase blood sugar? Due to its high fiber content, it slows down the absorption of glucose, which reduces the load on the physiological mechanisms regulating glycemia. Adhering to a reasonable dose within 200g of plums daily consumed before the main meal, you can get the maximum effect without the risk of harming yourself.

Diabetes Plum Juice

All juices are divided into freshly prepared and canned, in which sugar is used as a preservative. The latter are prohibited in diabetes. Fresh plum juice with pulp in a volume corresponding to the recommended daily dose diluted with boiled water of 1: 1 is acceptable.

The beneficial properties of plums are due to the presence of many trace elements in them: potassium, calcium, sodium, iodine, zinc, manganese, magnesium. They contain vitamins A, C, E, beta-carotene, a large list of vitamins of group B, mono- and disarides, glucose, sucrose, fructose, omega-6 and saturated fatty acids.

Berry is able to improve immunity, has laxative and diuretic properties, strengthens blood vessels, normalizes blood circulation, removes slags and toxins, and has a beneficial effect on vision. It gently cleanses the intestines, contributing to its motility.

Harm plum can cause with rheumatism, gout, the presence of stones in the gall bladder, as well as diabetics with uncontrolled eating it. These diagnoses are a contraindication to the use of the fetus.

What to replace the plum with diabetes?

Food is a fuel for our body and the fruits in it are assigned the important role of saturation with nutrients necessary for health. If for one reason or another drainage is unacceptable (flatulence, bloating, diarrhea, etc.), then it can be replaced with other fruits from the list above. Particular attention should be paid to pear in diabetes.

Pear is rich in fiber, tannins, pectins, sugars, folic acid and other vitamins, many minerals. And although the glycemic index of the fetus is 2 times higher than that of the plum, its fiber well normalizes the metabolic processes, inhibits the increase in glucose level, preventing its sharp jumps.

Another alternative to plums is prunes or dried Hungarian plums. Drying it does not reduce the value of the fetus, it contains riboflavin, folic acid, phosphorus, boron, magnesium, etc. Antioxidants in it provide the immune properties of the fetus. Prune is a preventive measure against many diseases.

It is recommended to eat 3-4 pieces a day, it can also be used as part of other dishes, compotes.

In the opinion of many diabetics, the diagnosis does not drive them into a gastronomic corner. This also applies to fruits, including plums. Their moderate consumption, control of bread units, becomes a habitual way of life, in no way limiting their freedom of choice.
