About the caffeine content in whole grains and a natural coffee hammer it is not necessary to say much: all methylxanthine alkaloids, to which caffeine belongs, are neurostimulants. And we feel this property when we drink coffee.

However, as found out at the beginning of this century, German researchers, led by Dr.-dermatologist Tobias Fischer (Tobias Fischer), caffeine stimulates and hair follicles (bulbs).

As reported in the January issue of the International Journal of Dermatology (International Journal of Dermatology) for 2007, the study showed what the benefits of coffee for hair. The main coffee alkaloid blocks the effects of the sex hormone testosterone and its dihydrotestosterone derivative, which suppress the growth factor (TGF-β2 protein) in the hair follicles and inhibit the proliferation of keratinocytes of the hair matrix, that is, in fact, the main cause of androgenic alopecia - hair loss.

When the researchers compared the hair follicles treated with coffee with ordinary ones, it turned out that in 8 days from the day of the procedure the average growth of caffeine-infused follicles increased by almost 46%, the life cycle of the hair became longer by 37%, and the length of the hair shaft increased by 33-40% .

Also in coffee there are mono- and polyunsaturated fatty acids (including linoleic, palmitic and oleic), and the terpenes in the coffee have anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. In addition, coffee grains contain vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B9, E and K), calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium and zinc.

From this list, you should especially highlight the vitamin B3 (PP or nicotinic acid), which is contained in the coffee in the form of a trigonellin alkaloid, and the microelement zinc is the main regulator of protein metabolism, and, consequently, the main protein component of the hair, keratin.

A special case is blond hair: coffee can change the color of your hair completely unpredictably, so either be prepared for the unexpected, or risk it.

The easiest way to feel the beneficial effect of coffee on the hair and scalp is this. Before soaping your head with shampoo on wet hair, pour a tablespoon of ground coffee. The second option: after the usual washing of the head, it is necessary to squeeze out the hair well and rinse it with pre-brewed cool coffee; wait until all the excess runs off, and wrap the head with a towel - for 5-10 minutes. After that, dry your hair.

Coffee mask with honey

Mix in a homogeneous mass 4 teaspoons of natural ground coffee, 2 tablespoons of liquid honey and 4 tablespoons of boiling water. Warm the mass on wet or dry hair and leave for 15-20 minutes. The mask is washed off long enough - moderately hot water, but the result after 2-3 such procedures you will certainly be pleased: hair of any type will become more elastic and shiny and, in addition, will fall less.

For those who have very dry and dull hair, it is useful to add 8-10 drops of olive oil or avocado oil containing oleic acid to this mask.

And if the loss of hair has increased, reinforce the effect of caffeine with nettle. To do this, it is enough to replace the prescribed 4 tablespoons of boiling water with the same amount of nettle broth.

Hair mask with egg and coffee

This mask is useful for dry and normal hair, since the egg yolk contains biotin (vitamin H). For its preparation, a tablespoon of ground coffee is brewed with 100 ml of boiling water and infused for 10 minutes; When the coffee has cooled to + 40 ° C, two raw egg yolks are introduced (if the hair is short, then one is enough) and mixed until smooth.

The resulting mass is applied to the hair along the entire length, the head is closed with a foil or a shower cap is put on, and the towel is wrapped on top for 25-30 minutes. It is washed off without shampoo.

With oily hair, a teaspoon of fresh lemon juice is added to this mask.

Mask for hair from cognac and coffee

The use of cognac to stimulate hair growth is due to the fact that under the influence of cognac alcohol, blood flow to the hair follicles increases. And the benefits of caffeine were mentioned above.

To prepare a mask for hair from cognac and coffee, you need a tablespoon of ground coffee, about 50-60 ml of cognac and egg yolk in raw form. The coffee is brewed with a small amount of boiling water, it is insisted to room temperature, and then all components are mixed. The mixture should be lightly distributed in a circular motion throughout the scalp (hair does not need to be smeared) and massage the skin a little. The head should be "warmed" and at least 30-40 minutes to withstand the mask.

This mask can be done and men, if they began to thin out their hair and there were bald patches.

Such a procedure (once a week) will also help improve the condition of the skin on the head in oily seborrhea, since tannins, which transform into cognac alcohol during aging in oak barrels, have not only astringent properties, but also anti-inflammatory properties.

Dark brown-haired women and moderate brunettes leave rave reviews about the coffee mask for hair, but blondes (natural and not so) complain that they do not fit such procedures ...
